In Part 1 of our Making Mornings Easier series, we spoke about how to use a visual story to support your Toddler through changes in the morning routine. In Part 2, we talk about how identifying the "rumbling signs", will help both you and your Toddler to manage the busy morning routine.

Getting ready to get out the door on busy weekday mornings can cause quite a bit of stress. The busy morning routine can be the perfect setting  to evoke a tricky toddler tantrum. Toddler Tantrums can occur regularly during a busy morning routine and are a very common occurrence. The good news is that there are some simple strategies that you can use to prevent this from happening.

The hustle and bustle of getting it all together to get out the door in the morning, can fire up some internal stress responses in both you and your Toddler.  If you can identify the “rumbling” stages of these stress responses for both you and your Toddler, the good news is that you can pull back from falling into a Code Red situation.

We all have our own individual internal stress responses, for example, (irritability, increased heart rate, negative inner dialogue).  If you can identify these responses in yourself at the early rumbling stage, try taking a moment or even half a moment to take a few simple deep breaths.  Do this, before you attempt to manage your Toddler's "rumbling stage", as how you respond, will effect what happens next.
